Before continuing, please read the steps and instructions for the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame (MBHOF) submission and induction process on the website.
The Nomination and Selection Committee (NSC) makes the final decision oo the MBHOF. Your submission helps us ensure that we include everyone who is worthy of inclusion.
First step: you must contact Otis Guy, Mountain Bike Hall of Fame Director, at otis@mmbhof.org or 415-250-2585. That # is also his Whatsapp #. Please email Otis first with a short biography of your candidate so he can research and be ready to discuss this person with you. Nominations will not be accepted without first contacting Otis.
Otis can give you a quick pass/fail test on potential nominees and save you time. He will go through what the NSC expects and how they determine who is inducted each year.
This is an international Hall of Fame, so if you are considering nominating someone who has only won some local bike races or made contributions to your local area, that will not be enough for consideration for induction.
The MBHOF has undergone many changes over the years. These changes have been intended to modernize the organization and address the complex needs of a rapidly growing sport.
It is not our intention to hurt feelings or opinions during this process. We derive no pleasure from denying candidates. We spend an incredible amount of time and effort with those who deserve inclusion to properly honor the special people behind this incredible sport we are a part of.
As someone considering submitting, study this process and look at the inductees since 2014 to help guide you.
Our Zoom meeting with you and your candidate may have a poor outcome for your candidate if you don't look at everything it takes to be either an inductee or on the future MBHOFInductees list.
Before you start filling out the form, we require permission from the nominee (candidate) or their legal representative (see the link below). Importantly, supply proof of the candidate's accomplishments. This could include media coverage, print material, photographs (multiple photos are required, portrait and action, minimum resolution of 300dpi (what does this mean?), and submission with those) with known dates, etc. This helps the submission and gives the MBHOF correct dates and accurate descriptions. This is not what we should know that your candidate has accomplished– it is what you show us. We curate nominations carefully– this is for posterity.
Contact the person you are nominating and involve them in their story. They know their history and what their contributions were/are to mountain biking. If your nominee is deceased, please ask their family or other representatives for permission and the information needed for the submission. If you need any help with this, please let Otis know.
Very few fields are set as "required" to make it easier to complete a form. You may save your work and return to complete it in multiple sessions, but... FOR A COMPLETED SUBMISSION, ALL FIELDS ARE REQUIRED UNLESS MARKED OPTIONAL.
OK, go for it—give it your best shot!
Make it as complete and thorough as you can. Good luck!
You can fill in the form and save it as you go, multiple times, and eventually finish. But it must be submitted by October 31, 2024 5 pm Pacific Time
