Harry T. Moore Teaching for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Award
The purpose of this award is to recognize and celebrate a Florida teacher who encourages an appreciation and respect for civil rights and civil liberties as demonstrated by the example set by both Harry T. Moore, and his wife, Harriette V. Moore. This award is sponsored by Nystrom. The recipient will be recognized at the Florida Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference, October 18-20, 2019.
The applicant must currently be teaching social studies in a Florida elementary, middle, or high school. The winner must be available to attend both the annual conference and awards celebration.

Grade Level Taught
Provide a statement of philosophy that articulates why the teaching of civil rights and civil liberties is a meaningful and relevant subject for students.
Upload a brief resume, including any recognition, awards, and/or grants received.
Upload two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a supervisor, and the other from a colleague. It must be signed and on formal letterhead.
Upload two lesson plans or projects which reflect best teaching practices and the ability to inspire students to take action.
