The SWOT Analysis is a classic and time-tested exercise used to help with assessing the condition of an organization and the environment that influences its operations.
Definitions:
Strengths – What your organization has that makes it strong, unique, and perhaps better than others? (Internal factors)
Weaknesses – What are your organization’s shortcomings that make it weak and perhaps vulnerable to competition? (Internal factors)
Opportunities – What might be happening outside your organization and you have very little to no influence over, that might present potential positive outcomes? (External factors)
Threats – What factors outside your organization, which cannot be controlled by you, may present considerable challenges to your success? (External factors)
