Please use this application for proposing to operate a business out of a single-family dwelling. Home Businesses are done within the dwelling and generally not outside of it within sight. Two types of businesses are permitted in dwellings.
1. A no-impact home-based business
a. Must meet Amity Zoning Ordinance Section 903 (c)
b. Is permitted by right
2. A Home Occupation
a. Must meet Amity Zoning Ordinance Section 903 (b)
b. Must be granted a Conditional Use by Board of Supervisors in the RC, LDR & MDR Districts

Please be aware. If you intend to use more than 10% of existing floor area of the dwelling for the business, the dwelling will then be classified as a commercial live-work building and is subject to the commercial building code and must include H/C parking, other elements and fire separation.
