Concurrent Enrollment/ Senior Residency Waiver Request

  • Concurrent enrollment is defined as degree-seeking students currently enrolled at Belmont University (full-time or part-time status) who intend on taking additional degree applicable courses at another U.S. accredited college or university during any semester, including summer.

Maximum Credit Hours: Once a student has matriculated to Belmont, he/she may not take more than 18 credit hours at another institution.  Exceptions to this policy include Belmont approved programs on other campuses and approved study abroad programs.

Receiving Grades: It is the student’s responsibility to contact the concurrent institution to request that an official transcript be sent to Belmont's Office of the Registrar once the course(s) is completed and the grade(s) is posted to the transcript.  Transferred grades of D+ or lower may not be used for major, minor, or general education requirements.  Refer to the Transfer Policy in the current catalog.

Official transcripts may be sent directly to the following:

    Electronic transcripts:  registrar@belmont.edu

  • Concurrent Enrollment for SENIORS

  • Concurrent Enrollment is required for ALL SENIORS.

Degree seeking students are required to complete their last 32 credit hours in their degree program through Belmont University.  Students may request an exception to this policy by submitting a Concurrent Enrollment/ Senior Residency Waiver Request.  This request must be completed prior to registering for courses at another institution.  Any credit hours taken without prior approval may not be accepted for transfer.

Seniors must also complete a Student Responsibility Agreement.  The purpose of this agreement is to ensure that students are aware of Belmont's transfer grade policy, as well as the date that transcripts from other institutions will be due in the Office of the Registrar in order to participate in graduation.

Receiving Grades for Graduating Seniors during the Semester of Graduation: It is the student’s responsibility to request that an official transcript be sent to the Office of the Registrar once the course is completed.  Students approved to take courses at other institutions during their final semester of study are responsible to ensure that the FINAL grades and transcript will be submitted to Belmont by the Senior Grades Deadline as indicated on Belmont University’s academic calendar.  Without grades, completion of degree requirements cannot be confirmed.  Students not meeting degree requirements may not participate in graduation or any related commencement activities.  Transferred grades of D+ or lower may not be used for major, minor, or general education requirements.

It is the student's responsibility to confirm with his/her Academic Advisor that courses taken through other institutions will fulfill needed degree requirements.
