Application instructions
Please fill out fields in the form below. Project description and mission statement can be entered in the appropriate spaces or uploaded as one document (pdf preferred). A budget justification is also required, either uploaded as a separate document or included as a separate section in the project description. Additional files are not required but could include references or a figure. If you have difficulties with attaching files, email GrantsScholarships@ncwildflower.org
All proposals require:
1) A project description
Include (in 1- 2 pages, 2 pages maximum)
- A clearly stated research question, with relevant background
- Detailed methods for data collection and brief timeline
- Anticipated goals and/or products of the study
2) A statement on how your work relates to the NCNPS mission:
to promote the enjoyment and conservation of North Carolina’s native plants and their habitats through education, protection, cultivation, and advocacy
3) A budget justification
Itemize your budget and include a brief justification statement
4) A letter of recommendation from your advisor
Have your advisor email their letter directly to GrantsScholarships@ncwildflower.org with the student’s name in the subject line
Proposals are reviewed by committee and applicants will be informed of their decision by May 1st. Proposals are evaluated on the quality of the application, the presentation of the research question and methods, consistency with NCNPS mission, and justification of funds requested. If you are awarded a grant, you will be required to submit a short description of your project, written for a general audience, and a photo of yourself, study site, or study organism, if possible, before your award check is released.
