  • Digital enablement of STPs at scale: Buzzword bingo

STPs and LDRs define how ‘Digital’ will play a part in transforming how citizens and patients see and interact with healthcare services. Disrupting care models, achieving efficiencies in care delivery and delivering the paperless environment; they are ‘Digital’ objectives too. An intentionally amorphous word, prepended to any number of initiatives, means something different to everyone you ask. Every man and his dog has a ‘Digital Blueprint’ or ‘Digital Strategy’ that they want to share. Let’s share some perspectives about good, pragmatic examples of results achieved and what this means

    • What is a digital strategy and how is it different from a technology strategy? Hear an overview of how NHS organisations can develop one
    • Find out what is needed to deliver digital transformation in terms of culture, people, approaches and technology
    • Understand the benefits of digital and how this differs from the benefits of technology
    • Is there a danger of throwing the baby out with the bath-water? Does “going digital” mean you no longer need the 1990s disciplines like enterprise architecture?
    • How does the strengthening movement around standards based interoperability play into digital?

You’ll also hear several relevant and recent UK specific research pieces around CIO needs and cyber security.

Mark Anderson, Managing Director, EMR Lead, Accenture

Sara Ford, Managing Director, Healthcare Consulting, Accenture

Dan West, Managing Director, Health & Public Service, Accenture

  • The next generation of shared records: new models of care for STPs

Hear from NHS colleagues about the next phase in information sharing – how to use shared record systems as a springboard to transform service delivery.

The benefits of having a single patient record available at the point of care are well understood.  The next phase is all about what the NHS and social care can go on to do with that shared information.

This is a practical workshop where senior NHS practitioners outline their own experiences. It will cover:

    • Deploying shared records at scale
    • Handling IG issues across multiple organisations
    • Integrating instant messaging, alerting and Skype communications across a care community
    • Creating integrated care plans for the frail and elderly, and patients with long term conditions
    • Integrating patient portals, wearables and machine learning to drive patient engagement

They will talk about the intensive work which is embedding supported self care as a ‘business as usual’ approach in 15 new models of care teams.   What does it mean for the STP areas that they represent? What part does it play in the development of accountable care systems? This session will offer ‘lessons being learnt’ and provide opportunity to raise the questions that will help apply the learning in your area.
