While the College of Engineering strives to accommodate all engagement requests that support the mission of the university and the college, the Dean’s schedule can be very restrictive due to the high volume of requests; his calendar fills up months in advance. In order to optimize the Dean’s engagement opportunities, any invitation to speak at or attend an event MUST be initiated by completing this form—ideally, at least six weeks in advance. While requests made with less than six weeks’ notice will be considered, the Dean’s participation may be impossible given schedule constraints. Once a request is submitted, Dean’s Office staff will respond with the Dean's availability as soon as possible following submission of the form.
Requests for the Dean to speak must be received at least three weeks in advance and key talking points must be listed on the form at the time of submission. You will likely hear from the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), no shorter than two weeks out from the event, with any questions or additional input needed to compose the remarks for the Dean's review and edits. The CMO and requestor will review final remarks one week in advance of the event. Requests received less than seven business days in advance, require the requestor to provide a complete script of the Dean's remarks upon submission of this form; the script will necessarily be required to be simple welcome or introductory remarks due to the short lead time. If a script is not provided, there is a possibility that the Dean will not be able to accept the request.
Please note for your planning purposes that, in the event your request is approved, a briefing document MUST be provided to the Dean or his designee no later than one week prior to the event. This briefing must include: a completed event outline form (which will be provided upon approval of your request); an attendance list; bios (and photos, if possible) for any person the Dean is being asked to introduce; bios (and photos, if possible) for any VIP attendees (including giving history); and any other information requested as follow up.
