  • Vaccination & Treatment Policy

    PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY:

    I.) VACCINATIONS

To protect all pets, each dog and cat must have current vaccinations, unless otherwise specified by a veterinarian. If your pet is due for any vaccinations, they will be given during their stay for the standard vaccine fee.

    Required CANINE Vaccinations:
    Rabies
    Canine Distemper
    Canine Parvovirus
    Bordetella
    Canine Influenza (H3N2 & H3N8)*

    Required FELINE Vaccinations:
    Rabies
    Feline Distemper

*In the spring of 2018 we began to see a few cases of Canine Influenza in New York State. Outbreaks of this highly contagious and serious disease usually occur in dogs that are in boarding kennels, grooming parlors, or areas frequented by many other dogs. There is a very effective vaccine available to prevent the disease, however, it takes two vaccines given two to three weeks apart and a total of 5 to 6 weeks to gain immunity. Although we have not seen any major outbreaks, we want you to be informed and have the option of vaccinating and protecting your dog. If you plan to board your dog or go to grooming parlors we highly recommend that you vaccinate your dog now. Further information is available on our website, www.rhinebeckanimalhospital.com.

In addition, if your pet has not been seen at our clinic within the past year for a wellness visit, they will require an exam with a veterinarian in order to receive the overdue vaccinations, which may be done during their stay.

  • II.) TREATMENT OF SYMPTOMATIC PATIENTS

Diarrhea is a common occurrence in boarding kennels and occurs for many reasons. Most often it is related to stress, change of routine, and change of usual daily environment. For cases of minor diarrhea or loose stool we will medicate pets with anti-diarrheal medication. If the loose stool continues for more than 24 hours your pet will be examined by a doctor, treated based on the findings, and you will be notified. You may be provided with medication to continue giving at home.

If you have any questions regarding this protocol, please let us know at the time of admittance.

  • As an authorized owner or agent of the above pet(s), I have read and understand the regulations above. While boarding at the Rhinebeck Animal Hospital, all vets have the right to treat the above pet as they feel necessary for any medical problems that may arise. I understand that I accept full financial responsibility for any treatment that need be given. I agree to pay additonal fees for optional services listed above. I understand that admission and discharge of my pet will occur during regular hospital hours.

  • Thank you!

If you may have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 845-876-6008, or by e-mail at info@rhinebeckanimalhospital.com.
