  • If you have been searching for your own unique way to contribute to the SC Bar, committee and volunteer service are great ways to get involved!

2025-2026 committee assignments will be made in July, and volunteer program coordinators will reach out on an as-needed basis.

If you want to participate in more than three committees, please email Donna Oelhafen at doelhafen@scbar.org.

  • Volunteer Opportunities

Tell us how you would like to volunteer! Civic education, done in a day, pro bono opportunities, or by serving your legal community?
  • Civic Education

From K-12 to adult education, volunteers from the SC Bar share their knowledge and skills to enhance the general understanding of the law in our communities. NOTE: Volunteering with Law Talks, Law School for Non-Lawyers, and Law Related Education count towards your pro bono service hours.

  • Done in a Day

If you are unsure of how you would like to volunteer with the Bar, but know you're willing and want to do something, you can join our "done in a day" contact list! Volunteer coordinators will reach out with opportunities throughout the year that need extra hands for low-commitment, one and done events. You can sign up for this list even if you sign up for other specific volunteer roles.

  • Pro Bono Service

Pro bono service is a cornerstone of the SC Bar, and as we reinvigorate our pro bono strategy as an organization, we need volunteers to engage and support our programs and the people we serve. In order to best match you with pro bono opportunities, you will receive a more detailed survey to gauge your specific training and preferences. This survey can also be found under the Pro Bono tab on your Member Dashboard.

  • Serve Your Legal Community

The SC Bar has many options for our members to get involved and support each other, promoting civility and building strong relationships within the Bar. Whether you're a thoughtful writer, a social butterfly or a rules and regulations enthusiast, there is something for you to do!
