Yale Community Carbon Fund Calculator
  • Yale Community Carbon Fund Calculator

  • Throughout this calculator, emissions are displayed in metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (mt CO2e). One metric ton is approximately 2,204 pounds and is the unit most commonly used to measure greenhouse gas emissions. Carbon dioxide equivalent units (CO2e) account for the fact that per unit, different greenhouse gases have varying impacts on climate change. Thus, the CO2e units standardize everything in terms of carbon dioxide. Learn more about the calculator methodology here.

  • If you don't see the type of room you used, choose the one closest in square footage or manually input the number of square feet, following the instructions in the final box. If you need more help, email us at sustainability@yale.edu.

For all the room types below, please input the total number of hours your event occupied that type of room. For example, if you used five small classrooms for eight hours each, you would input "40" in the Small Classrooms/Seminar Rooms box. For your convenience, there is a calculator located below if you need it.
