    Volunteer Health Requirements
  • Dear Volunteer Applicant,

An important part of your on-boarding is the documentation of your health requirements.  Because we care about the health and safety of our patients as well as staff and volunteers, we ask that you review the following carefully.

NCH Employee Health Services (EHS) partners with Family and Volunteer Services (FVS) and is responsible for managing all information related to employee and volunteer health.  This includes initial an annual TB testing and an annual flu immunization.  EHS has a database called ReadySet which provides paperless record keeping.  The instructions to enroll are provided below.  Once enrollment is completed, your records, reminders and consent forms (called surveys) will be kept there. An advantage to volunteers is that the records will be accessible to you on demand through a secure web portal.

No action is needed if you are an NCH employee or already enrolled in ReadySet for NCH.

Step 1: Create a Ready Set account

Use the following link to access your secure and private My Health webpage online and create your profile.
    https://nationwidechildrens.readysetsecure.com

Important: When setting up your account please use your legal first name as it would appear on a medical document. Using shortened nick names or other variations when registering in Ready Set may cause confusion when records are matched to accounts. Example: Enter Melanie not “Mel”/ enter Russell not “Russ”

Click “New User? Click Here to Begin” and follow the instructions.

You will need the following information:

    • Organizational 4-digit Code: 2347
    • Program Type: “Volunteer Enrollment”
    • Population Type: Choose “New Hire” from list in the system
    • This secure system requires a full, accurate social security number as a unique identifier to match your records
    • Record or make note of your username and password for future use
    • Once you have enrolled you will also need to complete the TB survey. Please see step 2

Step 2: Complete the TB Survey (while logged in to Ready Set)

While logged in to Ready Set, look for the section in the upper left hand corner that says “Health Surveys” and click on this area.  Complete the “TB survey”.

Each survey status will have a green checkmark under status when you click “Submit Final”.

  • Please complete steps 1 & 2 before answering "yes" and moving on to the next step.

  • Step 4: Employee Volunteer Badge Photo

    Schedule an appointment:

Please schedule an appointment with our Volunteer Office at least one week prior to orientation to get your photo taken for your volunteer badge.

The Volunteer Office is located in the Crossroads Building (C Building) in room C1851 (map below).

    • Call 614-722-3635 to schedule
    • Bring your smile for your volunteer badge photo!!
  • Get your initial TB test done

As a new volunteer in a health-care setting, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends screening for the prevention and transmission of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. As part of your orientation process you are required to have a blood draw (QuantiFERON-Gold test) to make sure you have not been exposed to Tuberculosis.  There is no charge for this test.

A negative result means you have not been exposed to the airborne bacteria which causes Tuberculosis. If your blood test is negative no further contact is made (no news is good news).

If your blood test is positive, Employee Health will follow up with you.

After enrolling in Ready Set, you should go to the Outpatient Lab (see below address).

If you attended an Information Session, the lab slip that you filled out should already be at the lab waiting for you.

This is the only lab that can perform this test
