• Malki Museum Scholarship Requirements

  • Due to increasing requests for scholarship funds, we have prepared a set of
    guidelines both to inform prospective applicants of their eligibility and
    responsibility and to provide contributors to the scholarship fund with assurance that their donations are used properly to assist qualified Indian students. The guidelines are as follows:

    • Students must be an enrolled member of a Southern California Indian
      reservation and must furnish proof of at least one-quarter Indian ancestry.
    • Students must provide verification of acceptance/enrollment at any
      accredited institute of higher learning.
    • Study grants from the scholarship fund can be used only for books and
      tuition or other supplies directly related to the course of study of the
      applicant.
    • All scholarship funds which are granted are sent directly to the Financial Aid
      office where the recipient is enrolled. The student then draws the money as
      necessary from the Financial Aid office.

    The Malki Museum Scholarship Fund has helped many Southern California
    Indian students complete their college educations. Previous recipients have
    gone on into many occupations and professional careers. They include
    attorneys, doctors, social workers, teachers, nurses and others. The Scholarship
    Fund depends entirely on donations from interested and concerned persons, and as always is in need of support to meet the anticipated demand for financial assistance when classes begin each year.

    Include school and community activities and honors. Please indicate the school year(s) in which you participated in each activity. You may list community service, tribal work, church work, or part-time or full-time employment

  • Essay/ Personal Statement

    Please attach a 200-500 word autobiographical essay in which you discuss significant experiences, community involvement, and the qualities of character and leadership important to achieving your goals. Highlight those personal accomplishments, achievements, and experiences that have given you considerable satisfaction and have helped form your character. Be sure to comment on your aspirations in terms of your educational and career goals, and why you want to further your education. Finally, explain the difference that receiving a scholarship would make in your life. Personal statements are used by the board of directors to select scholarship recipients.Don’t forget to put your name!
