The initial step of obedience after receiving Jesus into your heart is water baptism.
We see this repeatedly in the Book of Acts. Notice the immediacy of the believers' water baptism in every situation: the believers at Pentecost (Acts 2:41); converts in Samaria (Acts 8:12); the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:38); Saul of Tarsus (Acts 9:18); Lydia of Thyatira (Acts 16:15}; the Philippian jailer and household (Acts 16:33); and the believers at Corinth (Acts 18:8).
This repeated pattern of new Christians being baptized upon their receiving of Jesus is persuasive evidence of the importance of this work.
Let’s review the Scriptures to see what transpires in the process of water baptism.
