The goal of the Palmetto Basics is to saturate the community with an easy message... a message of five fun, simple and powerful ways to help all our children become the happiest and most successful they can be!

DIRECTIONS: This form can serve as a pledge saying that you support the Palmetto Basics. And, this can serve as an agreement if you want to incorporate the message into your daily work.

Agreement to implement Palmetto Basics messaging:
Purpose: The Palmetto Basics (PB) network serves as a platform for promoting localized School Readiness messaging throughout South Carolina communities, highlighting things parents and community members can do to help children enter school on track and ready to succeed.

Definition: The Greenville First Steps (GFS) team is the authorized convener of the statewide Palmetto Basics messaging campaign and it’s implementation in Greenville County.

Cost: Thanks to investments by Greenville First Steps and private partners, there is no cost for Palmetto Basics Champions.

Commitment of Greenville First Steps:
- Provide content to supplement or highlight existing work provided by local champions (ex. provide logo and copies of Palmetto Basics leaflet to distribute)
- Maintain contract with The Basics (national entity) to serve as point of contact for SC implementation
- Develop graphic standards and guidelines as well as content including videos, billboard and print ad templates, online social media templates and resource guides for Champion, community partners and families (as funding is available)
- Celebrate Palmetto Basics champions, when appropriate
- Provide onsite consultation on how to integrate school readiness best practices within local initiatives (ex. invite us to come brainstorm or present how to integrate)
Commitment of Champions who Implement the Basics: The Palmetto Basics messaging campaign is most effective when community champions integrate the evidenced based content into their existing work. Champions will support consistent messaging by agreeing to the following:
- Share unaltered Palmetto Basics messaging and materials within community as appropriate (ex. play Palmetto Basics videos in waiting areas)
- Ensure local content complies with Palmetto Basics graphics standards and guidelines
- Agree to submit any NEW or ALTERED Palmetto Basics content electronically to GFS for approval (with 72 hour window for approval) (ex.add Palmetto Basics info to exisitng organizational flier)
- Agree to have Champion's name, logo, promoted as a Palmetto Basics partner as appropriate (ex. GFS promotes your work in Greenville Journal insert)
- Agree to provide data/metrics/success stories as appropriate
- Ensure representatives participate in Palmetto Basics committees and planning meetings as appropriate (ex. join other Champions at a PB Lunch & Learn)
