Two Day Handler Course. This is an introduction to a whole different way of thinking about and handling alpacas and llamas based on the practical application of behaviour science. The aim is to focus not on the goal but on how that goal is achieved using techniques that are gentle, as well as efficient and effective. They make life with your camelid companion much more fun for both of you.

    Item subtotal:£0.00£0.00

Three Day Handler Course. An additional day to the two day course gives participants a change to refine their newly learned skills , focus on particular interests such as raising babies, showing and loading and to try clicker training.

Four Day Alpaca Assisted Therapy Course. The two day course is aimed at alpaca and llama owners who are qualified professionals in a therapeutic setting who would like to involve their alpacas and llamas in their clinical wok. You will leave with knowledge of the history of animal interventions, of the practical application of Camelidynamics handling skills, camelid communication, practical, legal and ethical considerations in programme planning and some ideas about how they may be incorporated into your clinical setting.

Three Day Alpaca Assisted Activity Course. The two day course is aimed at alpaca and llama owners who have an interest in working with their animals in Animal Assisted Activities(AAA).or the well-being of others. It does not allow you to offer or call your activities "therapy". In order to call any animal activity "therapy" the handler must have a recognised qualification that would allow them to offer therapy in the absence of the animal. You will leave with knowledge of the history of animal interventions, of the practical application of Camelidynamics handling skills, practical, legal and ethical considerations in programme planning and some ideas about how to work alongside alpacas for the physical and psychological benefit of others.

Refresh and Refine Day. If you have completed a handling course here with us at SimplyAlpaca's Camelid Connection or with another Camelidynamics instructor but have forgotten some of the finer details or are experienceing particular problems, this is the day for you. We will be revisiting the science of behaviour and employing basic handling principles including the use of body position, balance and leverage to efficiently catch, halter, lead and perform husbandry tasks. This is an ideal opportunity to identify and practically problem solve any issues you have been facing with your animals.

Camelid Handling for Vets and Veterinary Staff. Do you or your colleagues come into contact with alpacas and llamas in the course of your work? Wondered what might be the best way to approach and handle them - like a horse, a sheep or a cow? The answer is like none of these. Camelids are unique animals and working efficiently, effectively and safely with them requires insight into how our behaviour influences theirs. I would like to introduce you to Camelidynamics; this is a behaviour science based approach to handling camelids that uses the most positive, least intrusive techniques to gain animal trust and co-operation rather than resorting to grabbing and restraining.
