Global Fellow in Residence Application

Virginia Tech hosting departments are invited to submit an application for the Mozaiko GFIR program. Applications are being reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis. Applications are accepted only for dates within the academic semester.To expose students to as many scholars as possible, we prefer to limit scholars' stay to one week. Exceptions may be considered for up to two weeks but are limited.The fully furnished apartment provided (includes full kitchen, bath, bedroom, and living room) is located in Harper Hall on Virginia Tech's campus. The visiting scholar must commit to hosting at least one program that is only for the students in Mozaiko during their residency. The program or event may take place in Harper Hall and should enrich the intercultural learning experience for the students in Mozaiko. All questions can be directed to mozaiko@vt.edu.

How will the GFIR visit be funded? (There is no charge to departments whose applications are selected, but it is the responsibility of the hosting department and GFIR applicant to ensure funding is secured for the duration of the visit.)

Describe the activities in which the guest will be involved in during their time at Virginia Tech. Each Global Fellow in Residence is expected to plan at least one interculturally oriented event (in partnership with Mozaiko students and staff) that is relevant to and intended for Mozaiko students each week they reside in the Global Fellow in Residence apartment in Harper Hall. When would the Global Fellow in Residence be available for programming within the Mozaiko Living-Learning Community? For example, a Fireside Chat Thursday, November 14, 2025 5-6 pm, a Community Meal Monday, November 19, 2026 12-1pm, a workshop on Salsa on Tuesday, March 24, 4-5:30 pm.
