- The Rome Area Council for the Arts (RACA) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit community arts organization that was founded in 1976.
- RACA's mission is to enrich the Greater Rome Community through the unifying and compelling power of the arts.
- RACA fulfills is Mission by providing advocacy for area artists and arts organizations and supporting a dynamic community based arts environment through arts programming, education, promotion, and community outreach.
RACA provides grants to support projects and organizations that utilize the arts to increase economic, social, and educational awareness and vitality in our community. Examples of projects that are eligible for RACA grants include, but are not limited to: performances (theater, dance, or music) ∙ art exhibits ∙ non-profit workshops/classes ∙ demonstrations ∙ readings ∙ murals ∙ sculpture ∙ residencies ∙ arts camps ∙ arts related programs for students ∙ a classroom residency by an artist
RACA has set the following guidelines for applicants:
- Grant applications will be reviewed for individuals or organizations seeking funding for arts related programming that furthers RACA’s mission of enriching the Greater Rome and Floyd County community through arts programming, education, promotion, and community outreach.
- Preference will be given to RACA members, 501(c)3 non-profit organizations and educational institutions.
- RACA will not consider requests to fund staff salaries, general operating costs, debt reduction, specific promotion of religious or political doctrine, non-arts related entities/organizations, capital improvements or endowments.
- RACA agrees to promote event/programs selected for funding through the grant process via social media platforms, website,etc to the best of its ability.
- Grant recipients will be required to acknowledge RACA’s support on all print material, press releases, social media, posters, announcements, etc.
- Grant recipients will be required to submit a follow up report no less than 30 days after project completion that includes support materials as well as a questionnaire detailing how the project fulfilled its goals.
RACA will consider two types of Grant applications:
Project Grants in the amounts of $100-$1000 and
Partner Grants in the amounts of $1001-$2500
Timeline for Application Process:
- Deadlines for applications are August 1st, November 1st, February 1st, May 1st for both grant types.
- Applications will be reviewed and scored by the RACA Outreach Committee. Notification of awards will be sent by the 20th of each application month. Grant funds will be dispersed upon receipt of signed Memorandum of Understanding.
- Projects must take place within one (1) year of Application Deadline (example: if an application is submitted on November 1st, 2017 the project must be completed on or before October 31st, 2018)
- Funds are to be used only for the intended project as defined by the applicant.
- Any unused funds must be returned to RACA no less than 30 days after the completion of the event/project.
- Applicants/Organizations can apply multiple times per year. The Committee will consider past awards to each organization and fund accordingly.

For Project Grant applications ($100-$1000):
- Proof of non-profit status (if applicable)
- Grant Application
- Budget Form (for the project/event the grant will fund only)
- High resolution digital logo for organization (if applicable) plus any digital print media for the project/event for promotional purposes.
- Optional: Support Material that includes a past work sample (images, video, print media)
For Partner Grant Applications ($1001-$2500)
- All of the above
- Support Material that includes a work sample (images, video, print media)
- Financial Statement/Yearly Budget of the organization (in addition to the project budget)
