• Ed Moricoli Memorial Flight Training Scholarship Application

    Flight Training scholarship up to $10,000 to complete flight training through JB Aviation at Galt Airport - Light Sport, Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial.
  • Eligibility Requirements

    Local candidates must meet the following criteria:

     

    • Member of EAA 932
    • Possess a minimum of a student pilot certificate
    • Possess at least a 3rd class medical certificate (unless Light Sport)
    • Able to begin their flight training within 30 days of scholarship start date
    • A 500 word typed essay, using the prompts in the application form below
    • Participate in an interview with the scholarship committee
    • Able to partake in a minimum of 2 hours of chapter volunteer service per month as well as submit regular progress reports during monthly check-ins
    • Be a part of the Galt Airport community, i.e. participating member/ volunteer of EAA Chapter 932, Young Aviators, etc.
  • General Information

    • Applicants may be at any stage of flight training. The award will be prorated based on logbook hours and current progress in training as determined by the scholarship committee.

    • The scholarship funds can only be used for flight training expenses such as aircraft rental, flight instructor fees, books and supplies. It may not be used to purchase other products sold by JB Aviation such as oil, t-shirts, food, maintenance, etc.

    • The Ed Moricoli Scholarship is an "earned" award. Funds will be disbursed from EAA 932 directly to your JB Aviation account in installments not as a lump sum

    • The recipient must begin flight training within 30 days of approval. The "Start Date" is the last calendar day of the month in which scholar was approved. Scholar must complete flight training (i.e. pass the check ride) within 12 months of the Start Date.

    • The scholarship funds will be available for the recipient to use for a total time of 12 months beginning on the Start Date and ending 12 months later.

    • Scholarship recipients will automatically be enrolled in the JB Aviation Flight Club and the $50 monthly fee will be waived. Flight club rates will be applied towards aircraft rental fees.

    • After completing a certificate/ rating within 12 months,  up to $1000 of remaining funds may be used for additional training.  Anything above the $1000 will be returned to the EAA 932 Ed Moricoli Scholahip fund by JB Aviation.

    • Members of the EAA Chapter 932 Scholarship Committee and their family members may not apply.

      The Process

      EAA Chapter 932’s Scholarship Committee will evaluate each applicant.  After reviewing all application forms, the scholarship coordinator will schedule interviews with the applicants and the scholarship committee. For applicants under the age of 18, a parent/ guardian may be present. 

    • After each applicant has been interviewed, the scholarship committee will select a winning candidate using a rubric-based point system. The applicant with the highest score will be the scholarship candidate. 

    • All applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision by phone.

    • Once approved, the scholarship recipient will be given a “start date” and may begin flight training immediately, but no later than 30 days from that date.

    • Applicants not selected in a given year will be considered the following year, if eligibility requirements are still met.

  • All scholarship applications must be received by midnight June 30th 2026
