Be part of one of Guelph’s most exciting annual events – Doors Open Guelph! Guelph Arts Council has proudly presented this celebration of our community’s special places since 2002. In 2017, more than 8,000 people visited 14 sites that showed off Guelph’s architecture, heritage, creativity, and innovation. Visitors enjoyed a special inside look at local businesses, churches, homes, and arts venues.
We are now considering sites for Doors Open Guelph 2018. If you would like to welcome visitors from all over Ontario to your special place on Saturday April 21, we’d love to hear from you.
Deadline for submissions: October 30, 2017
Please submit this application only if you are a site representative (owner, staff member, or key volunteer) and if your site has not participated in Doors Open since 2013. All Doors Open sites must commit to opening their doors for one full day from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
Potential sites will be assessed based on the following considerations:
- It is celebrating a significant anniversary
- It is not usually open to the public, and has significant architectural features, or has cultural, historical or social significance to the city
- It has significant design features or innovative or green technology
- It has been recognized with significant historic, architectural, green building or urban design awards
- It represents Guelph’s cultural diversity
- It can offer programs for visitors during Doors Open, such as lectures, performances, exhibitions, demonstrations, or hands-on activities
- It would be one of a cluster of possible sites in an area of Guelph
- It would provide a group of event volunteers from among its employees or volunteers
- It would contribute to the event as a Doors Open Guelph sponsor
