    We accept poetry, fiction, non-fiction, photography, and visual art that engages with the theme "Lights, Camera, Action." The teen editors encourage writers and artists to interpret this theme broadly and creatively. Please read all instructions carefully and fill out this form to submit!

    Having trouble getting started? Here's a few prompts to help:

    • Where do you find your light?
    • Write a poem or a story that begins with a photograph.
    • Write about an action you wish you'd taken, or one you wish you could undo.
    • What can't be captured on film?

  • Author and Publisher Rights' and Responsibilities

    My signature is an acknowledgement that my submission has not been published before in any book or periodical, or online (social media is okay). If this changes during the submission period, I will notify Lake Erie Ink to have my submission removed from review. If chosen for publication by Lake Erie Ink, I reserve the right to publish the same work elsewhere in the future.
  • Following the deadline, the Teen Editorial Board will begin reviewing submissions.  We will send an email responding to all submissions before publication. It is the author's responsibility to monitor their email and respond to the Editors. Any author who does not respond to the Editors will not be published. 

    Emails will come from teeneditors@lakeerieink.org. Please make sure to check your spam folders. 

    If you do not hear from the Editors by February 28, it is the author's responsibility to reach out to the Editors to verify their submission was received.

  • Poetry Guidelines

    Contributors may submit up to 3 poems that engage with the theme "Lights, Camera, Action." Please submit each poem as a separate, editable .doc or .docx file. Do not submit pdfs, jpgs, or screenshots. Individual poems can be up to 500 words in a 10-12 point font size. Do not include your name on your submission. Please make sure all pieces are titled.

    Contributors may submit 1 prose piece that engages with the theme "Lights, Camera, Action." We accept flash fiction, memoir, personal essays, narrative non-fiction, and chapters from larger works that stand alone. Each piece can be up to 1500 words in a 12 point font size. Please submit each piece as a separate editable .doc or .docx file. Do not submit pdfs, jpgs, or screenshots. Do not include your name on your submission. Please specify whether your piece is fiction or nonfiction. Please make sure all pieces are titled.

We accept photography, drawings / illustration, collage, mixed media, and one-page, portrait-oriented comics. Works should be submitted as high resolution .jpg files. Do not submit pdfs.   • Photo Essay Guidelines

    A photo essay is a series of photos that tells a story or explores a theme. Contributors may submit one photo essay (6 photos maximum) that engages with the theme "Lights, Camera, Action." Photos may be submitted in color but they will print in black and white. Works should be submitted as high resolution .jpg files. Do not submit pdfs. Do not include your name on your submission. Please upload your photos individually in the order they should appear. Please title your photo essasy and include a brief introduction that provides background, context, or your personal connection to the photo essay.
