CulturalDC seeks an experienced local muralist to create a dynamic work of art on building T20 on the former Walter Reed Campus in Ward 4. The building is highly visible from Georgia Ave NW but is within the security perimeter. The project is to be completed by April 7, 2018 and will culminate in a community celebration on campus.
The Developer wishes to engage the local community during the mural process, the design should incorporate an area for their participation. This can be done through a paint-by-numbers process or another method, but the community portion of the mural should be cohesive with the rest of the design.
The mural should honor the site’s military history and celebrate its future development. “The Parks” site branding must be incorporated centrally in the design of the mural. Brand elements to include the site name, “The Parks, Historic Walter Reed,” and graphic components of the site logo (see image above), proposals not including this will not be considered. The entire façade of the building (sides A-E) should be painted but the main design does not need to cover the whole space, artists may use large blocks of color to help achieve this goal. See below for images and dimensions of the mural site.
