Team Day + Trial Run Positions
May 9 - 18
Team Check-in: Greet teams as they arrive, sign them in, collect permission slips, and share information and direction regarding the team day process.
Runner: Help each team locate their car in the building, maneuver it in and out of the building if needed, make sure returning cars are put away in assigned stalls.
Weight Adviser: Assist teams as they finalize their weight set-up. Keep the line moving, answer questions as needed. Relay information to team coach and advise if adjustments are needed.
Brake Tester: Test each team member's ability to stop a car on a flat surface before they can go down the track; place wristbands on those who pass.
Team Photographer: Gather each team together at the starting line and take their team photograph.
Starting Line Assistant: Help organize teams and prepare them for their trial run by lining up riders, handing out helmets, loading cars into the blocks, helping to unload the trailer, answer questions as needed.
Runout: Direct racers where to stop, help them out of their cars, and load cars onto the trailer. Please note that this is a physically active position. Volunteers will be standing and lifting. Great for a group!
Race Day Positions
May 17 & 19
Team Check-In: Assist staff with checking in teams as they arrive on race day. Help direct teams to the team meeting.
Car Staging Team Member: If you enjoy working behind the scenes of an event, this is a great opportunity for you. Prior to the race volunteers will stage the cars in order according to their assigned heat. This job is one of the most important preliminary jobs to a competitive race. The heats are pre-assigned to keep the race running smoothly and efficiently.
Run Out Car Handler: Be the first person to see racers cross the finish line! Direct racers where to stop, help them out of their cars, and load cars onto the appropriate trailers. Please note that this is a physically active position. Volunteers will be required to move quickly and at times, lift heavy cars.
Topside Car Handler: Unload racers cars that are returned to Topside or the starting line from the finish line. Please note that this is a physically active position. Volunteers will be required to move quickly and at times, lift heavy cars.
Volunteer Check-In & Hospitality: Check in volunteers as they arrive, show them where to go, provide basic information and first aid materials as needed and check volunteers out as they leave.
Parking Team: Help ensure guest, volunteer and staff safety and security by assisting with parking of vehicles by directing cars where to park.
Wheel Swap: Assist the racers switch their wheels with the appropriate partner before their second half of their heat.
