VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
Group Monitor
Ensure that children in your class are safe, accounted for and entertained when not onstage at the theatre. Check for proper attire and escort children to and from the stage for their rehearsals and performance(s). Keep dressing room tidy at all times.
If you are a Group Monitor, do not purchase a ticket to watch the show. You will only be able to see the class you are volunteering for from the wings since you will need to remain with your class group at all times until they are dismissed.
Rehearsal Requirements: To keep consistency and good security coverage of all class groups, it is important to attend all rehearsals for your class. It is also an important time to meet all the students of your class and their families prior to the real show experience.
ENTRANCE SECURITY
Gustafson Dance takes your child’s security very seriously; therefore it is our priority that all students have a safe environment in and out of our school. Your main job will be the supervision/security of dancers coming in and out of the theatre, making sure no child is unattended and no child leaves without a parent or with a stranger. Security is our main priority as well as making sure only authorized staff and volunteers flow to the backstage area. This job will require some rehearsal time and one entire performance length. Great dad option!
BACKSTAGE/CORRIDORS SECURITY ENFOCEMENT
This position requires of an outspoken special candidate to be able to strongly enforce our security policy rules backstage at all times during rehearsals and shows.
DRESSING ROOM RUNNER
Take dancers to and from assigned dressing rooms upon arrival to stage to minimize the unauthorized body traffic backstage during rehearsals and shows.
BACKSTAGE RUNNER
The job will consist of making sure that all dancers are present, ready, and dressed with appropriate attire, in their line up order and escorted to and from stage for their performances. This job will require some rehearsal time and one entire performance length.
CHECK IN ASSISTANT
Volunteers will assist at the check in tables while parents sign in and out dancers during our rehearsals and shows. They will answer questions and walk dancers to assigned dressing rooms if necessary. Dress rehearsal required.
VOLUNTEER CHECK IN AIDE
Make sure all volunteer aides arrive and check-in on time for their scheduled duties. Any volunteers who do not arrive when expected will need to be contacted and you might need to fill in their spot until they arrive. Dress rehearsal required.
THEATRE LOAD IN/SET UP
Help transport costumes, props and other supplies to theatre and help to set up. Large vehicles or trucks would be ideal for this job. This job will take about 2 to 3 hrs minimum.
Meet at studio Wed, 12/13 approximately 9:00 am.
THEATRE LOAD OUT CLEAN UP
Help transport any props, costumes etc. back to the studio after the show. Load out will be about 2 hrs time frame.
Meet at the Granada Theatre 12/17 after last performance approximately around 4:30 pm.
PRE SHOW SET UP
Help with putting up signs in and around theatre and setting up check-in tables, props and dressing rooms prior to each show.
MAKING or FIXING PROPS
Making props needed for the show.
SIGNS
Printing or making sings for the show. A list will be provided.
PURCHASE/DONATE SUPPLIES
Purchase or donate items needed for the shows. A list of items will be provided. Please don't spend more than $35; this expense does not get reimbursed.
DRESSING ROOM CLEAN UP
Clean up dressing rooms and re-organize room boxes to take back to studio. This will take place at the theatre at the end of the last show.
OPT OUT
If you are not able to help in any of the above options, you may make a $35 contribution to help hire extra babysitters and additional aid. If you have any reliable, trustworthy nannies or babysitters that would be interested in working backstage, please complete their contact information below.
