California State Thespian Troupes, in alliance with Educational Theatre Association and the International Thespian Society, strive to excel both on and off stage. The California State Thespian Board would like to recognize troupes each year that achieves a high level of excellence by offering the California State Thespian Honor Troupe status.
This achievement is meant for those Troupe Directors that do exemplary work in their troupes, in their community, and on the state and national levels. The application process includes the submission of an electronic portfolio about the positive impact the troupe is making. Applications can be submitted beginning in December of each year. The achievements documented should represent work done during the 12 months prior. (i.e. the calendar year January to December)
In order to accept an award, it is required that the troupe be in attendance at the California State Thespian Conference. An honored Troupe’s Director may apply every five years.
What does the Troupe Director receive if selected?
- A letter to the honored Troupe and Troupe Director’s superintendent and school site administrator
- A plaque presented on stage at California State Thespian Conference
- Recognition on the California State Thespian Website
