  • Job Description Overview

    The purpose of the JP Summer Project Coordinator (SPC) is to provide in-camp leadership over several different aspects of the summer work camp operations. The SP will work closely with the Executive Director (ED) to assist in monitoring and executing day-to-day operations assigned by the ED. The SP will provide support to the camp leadership team (Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director, Tool/Site Coordinator) as assigned by the ED. Primarily, the SP will explore requests by potential clients regarding work projects. The SPC is accountable to, and directed by, the ED.

    Specifically, the responsibilities are as follows:

    Work Site Procurement and Follow-up

    1. Visit clients to gather information for potential worksites (This includes an initial visit with the client, educating the client about the mission of the Jeremiah Project, gathering the necessary information on the work requested, taking pictures and measurements as needed, and completing an online work site agreement form).
    2. Acquiring building permits as needed.
    3. Arranging for Miss Utility to mark sites before digging occurs.
    4. Mark properties as needed using an underground line detector.
    5. Take pictures of sites where ramp construction is occurring each Friday and forward to the ED via email for review if requested.
    6. Perform “Close-out procedure” for all sites (This includes visiting with each client to ensure they are satisfied with the work JP has performed, taking pictures of the completed site, making sure the site is clean of debris, trash, ladders, etc.).

    Vehicles

    • Assist the ED with maintaining JP vehicles by arranging repairs, transporting vehicles, taking vehicles to get a state inspection, etc.
    • Staff Training: Assist the ED in providing support to incoming CDs as they prepare for staff training. This may include collecting needed materials, meeting with the CD, etc.

    In-Camp Assistance

    • The SPC will be available to assist the camp leadership team by transporting lumber, tools, and other work site materials if an appropriate vehicle is available.
    • The SPC meets with the incoming and outgoing TCs to ensure a smooth transition from one week to another.
    • The SPC will be available to provide leadership and or assistance in disposal of worksite materials to the landfill or dumpster in camp.
    • At a minimum, the SPC is expected to meet with the CD on Sunday, Monday and Friday to ensure open communication.
    • The SPC attends no more than three staff meetings during the course of any given week unless it is requested by the Camp Director or the ED that you attend additional meetings.

    Other Responsibilities

    • The SPC will work the day after camp ends (July 29th) to assist with summer close-out.
    • Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned from time to time by the ED.

    Training

    • The SPC will receive 5 days (Monday-Friday) of paid training prior to the start of his/her work.
    • This training will be provided by the ED. Although specific dates for this training will be negotiated between the SPC and the ED, the anticipated time of training will take place toward the end of May.

    Transportation

    • It is expected that the SPC will provide his/her own transportation. JP will provide all fuel expenses when the SPC is using their own vehicle.

    Commitment

    • The SPC agrees to one week of paid training and six continuous weeks of service.
    • Two Summer Project Coordinator positions offered: Romney, WV and Winchester, VA.
    • Wednesdays from 9:00am-5:00pm are set aside for the SPC as a day off.

    Compensation

    • The SPC will receive a stipend of $400.00 per week for a total of $2,800.00 over 7 weeks.
    • The Jeremiah Project will also provide meals and lodging for the duration of the internship.

  • The safety and security of those whom God has placed in our care is of the upmost important to the Jeremiah Project.  It is because of this responsibility that JP runs comprehensive background checks on all JP staff and volunteers.  If you are accepted in a JP Staff position and are over the age of 18, then a background check must be completed.  We have partnered with a professional screening company and will provide you with a secure electronic release form and background check form.
