SWELL is curating a work created by Choi+Shine Architects that will premiere during Festival 2018, part of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, and are seeking crocheters for a temporary art installation.
Experienced and skilled crocheters are invited to submit an expression of interest to assist making sections of a distinctive work of art that will allow viewers to enter a diaphanous form, where they can enjoy the detail and texture of the crocheted patterns and experience the city, water and the sky through this unequalled visual filter.
This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the creative process through a culmination of skill to be a part of a memorable time and create a place for athletes, visitors and residents to reflect and enjoy.
SWELL presents high quality outdoor art and cultural events, connecting people, art and place. Through a high-level curatorial approach, we coordinate and host new and exciting recognised national and international artists for exhibitions, the creation of stand alone public art or rejuvenation of space, to attract substantial audience engagement.
Choi+Shine Architects is an internationally awarded architecture and design studio run by two principals, Jin Choi and Thomas Shine. Choi+Shine runs a skunkworks Design Studio for experimental design and projects that are not inherently architectural. Projects from this free-thinking studio vary greatly including public art, competition entries, book design, product design, three dimensional art, ceramics and patented inventions.
