Scholarship Committee

The mission of the ACE Scholarship Committee is to foster the scholastic re-engagement of the members of The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church by offering scholarship awards to students, providing educational mentoring opportunities, and disseminating information to assist students in their educational pursuits.
Requirements
- Be an active member of a local A.M.E. Zion Church.
- Be a current member of the Assembly of Christian Educators (upload a confirmation email/letter from your ACE Regional Vice President or purchase receipt at the appropriate point in the application).
- Provide a copy of your resume or curriculum vitae (upload in PDF format at the appropriate point in the application).
- Provide a copy of your transcript (upload in PDF format at the appropriate point in the application). Incoming college freshman must submit high school transcript. Official or Unofficial transcripts will be accepted.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 as reflected on your official transcript (if applicable).
- Provide two letters of recommendation (one from each category below):
- Christian Educator Reference - Bishop, Presiding Elder, Pastor, Sunday School Teacher, Episcopal, Conference, District, or Local Director of Christian Education, etc. Must be someone associated with The A.M.E. Zion Church.
- Professional/Community Reference- Teacher/Professor, Supervisor, Mentor, Community figure, Public Official, etc. Must be someone that is not of familial and/or blood relation. The second recommendation must come from someone outside The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church
- Submit a minimum 400 word written statement (prompts are below) directly into the appropriate section of the application.
- Submit a photo of yourself; must be a clear headshot.
- All documents must be submitted by the application deadline. Documents will not be accepted after October 15, 2024.
- Registered and attending the 2024 Winter Meeting in Kansas City, MO.
Written Statements
Denison D. Garrett & James W. Eichelberger Applicants
In four hundred (400) words, describe your commitment to The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church and service to the community at large. Include how the church has impacted your drive for a personal relationship with God, working in ministry, and service to the community. Your submission will be evaluated on the word count, grammar and mechanical conventions, and whether the question was answered. It is suggested that you type your statement in MS Word to ensure proper spelling, grammar, and word count requirements, then copy and paste it into the text field for submission.
George L. Blackwell Applicants
In four hundred (400) words, complete a statement of purpose reflecting on your faith journey and how you will incorporate your seminary/theological training into your ministry. Your submission will be evaluated on the word count, grammar and mechanical conventions, and whether the question was answered. It is suggested that you type your statement in MS Word to ensure proper spelling, grammar, and word count requirements, then copy and paste it into the text field for submission.
The one time scholarship awards will be awarded during the 2024 Winter Meeting in Kansas City, MO. Applicants must apply each year for a new award.
