INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS:
Applicants for the D.H.M.S. must meet the following criteria:
- Be an active student in the R-1 school district or an
approved regional district / school
- Have a demonstrated interest and passion for travel
- Have a demonstrated need for financial assistance and
submit the required documentation (see below)
- Applicants accepted to receive this award must earn a
minimum of $600 through personal efforts to be
contributed to the program tuition and travel costs
Applicants are required to answer a few questions designed to allow them to share their personal story as well as outline the reasons why they fit the criteria mentioned above. In addition, the applicant is asked to submit a letter of recommendation from a personal, educational and/or vocational reference (counsellor, teacher, principal, etc).
If you are accepted for this award, understand that it is a one-year award. You may apply in successive years but there is no guarantee or preferential treatment given for previous recipients.
SELECTION OF RECIPIENT(S):
All applications that meet the abovementioned criteria and are received by the application deadline will be reviewed. Recipients of the Dean Hodes Memorial Scholarship will be at the discretion of Telluride Academy staff, administration and DHMS funders. Scholarship recipients will be contacted directly by Telluride Academy administrators. Any applicant that receives a DHMS scholarship will be expected to submit a follow up letter sharing their international experince with the DHMS board and Telluride Academy staff.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.
Telluride Academy will contact applicants within two weeks of their submission date.
