    New Form for EDSO Required as of November 2017. This is not the form for sign-ups to a class.

  • The Sheriff’s department has changed the way they handle handgun safety inspection and serial number verification of the handguns you wish to have on your CCW. If you are waiting to hear back from the Sheriff’s department on your NEW application, you may receive a letter from EDSO stating that you will need a new “Carry Concealed Handgun Firearm Training and Gun Safety Check Form as well as a range qualification.” Only approved instructors can provide you with this new form, and only approved instructors are able to complete your handgun inspection and serial number(s) verification and range qualification.

    If you are doing a renewal CCW application and have not provided the Sheriff’s Department with the NEW form you will also have to contact us to complete the inspection, range qualification and serial number verification and provide you with the new form. We started using the new form with the October 14, 2017 class, so if you have taken the class before the October 2017 date and have not completed your paperwork you will need to provide the Sheriff’s Department with the NEWLY completed form.

  • El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department requires all CCW permit holders to have each of their firearms, inspected, serial numbers confirmed, and a live-fire range demonstration and qualification completed with each of your firearms you wish to have listed on your CCW permit.   

    With this change, we need you to list all the handguns that you wish to have on your CCW permit. It is our opinion that a shooter can only really be proficient with no more than 3 handguns. There are numerous reasons for this opinion, and we would be happy to discuss this with you if you like. That being said, you are welcome to list more than 3, remember you must range qualify with each of those handguns.  

    On this form, we will allow you to list up to 6 handguns. If you truly need more than 6 handguns listed, we will address this issue prior to meeting you for range qualification. The cost for each range qualification and Inspection is $45.00 (cash or check only, paid at the range qualification) with 3 handguns. The range fee is paid directly to the range. You must supply your own ammunition. 

    Please List below the handguns you wish to have listed on your CCW permit. We need, Make, Caliber, Model, and Serial Number Exactly as it is stamped on your handgun. 

    Make of Handgun (i.e., manufacturer) Example: Smith & Wesson, Colt, Ruger, Sig Sauer, Beretta, Glock, Rossi, Kahr, CZ, Browning, Springfield Armory, H&K, Kimber, Walther, just a few examples.  

    Serial Number Exactly as Stamped on the Handgun frame.

    Model of Handgun (not REV or S-Auto), as printed on Handgun. Example: Model 17, M&P Shield, P226, Nano, 686-2. Hi-Power, XD, PPKS, 92F, etc. Rev or S-Auto is NOT a model even if that is what is shown on your current CCW permit. 

    Caliber: Example: 9mm, 9x19, .38 Spl, .357 Mag, .40 S&W, .22 LR, .380 ACP, 45 ACP. 

    Please make sure you click the "SAVE" button after you have filled out the handgun information. You must list at least one handgun, and after you click SAVE, another line will appear for you to add additional handguns if needed.

    Once you have all of your handguns listed, click on the "Click Here To Save" button and then click on the submit button to submit your form.
