    INSTRUCTOR COURSE PROPOSAL
  • SERIES SUMMER ARTS SCHOOL OVERVIEW

What is Series Summer Arts School?

Before you submit your application it’s important that you are well informed about Series Summer Arts School.

    Here are a few facts:

Series Summer Arts School is a group of arts (mainly visual) summer workshops for adults.  Series is internationally known and respected and has been at Red Deer College since 1983.

Courses are usually 5 days in length– Monday-Friday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm with a 1 hour lunch break from 12-1pm.  We do offer “A Taste of Series” – 1 day workshops on Saturday in mid-July.

Instructors are typically paid an hourly wage of $45 (this is negotiable- please contact the Program Coordinator directly) based on a 6 hour day.

While RDC will provide many of the requested supplies; some instructors prefer to bring their own supplies and expect reimbursement.  Please indicate on the instructor application, under instructor reimbursement for supplies, specifically what supplies you will provide and the amount to be reimbursed.

Instructors from Alberta are expected to drive to RDC and are reimbursed for their mileage.

Instructors outside of Alberta are offered a flight to Calgary and then shuttle transportation to RDC.  For out of province instructors, who drive we pay .20/km to a maximum of $625.

Instructors arrive at RDC the Sunday before their course begins to check their studio space and attend a brief dinner meeting.

Accommodations are in student residences on campus.  You will share a townhouse style unit with 2 or 3 other Series instructors but will have a private bedroom with locking door.  You will share a bathroom with 1 other Series instructor.  While our townhouse units are fairly new it is student housing.  There is WiFi but no television, nor microwave.  We will ensure each instructor gets basic cooking supplies should you decide to eat in your residence unit.

Instructors will be provided with a modest daily food voucher ($10/day) that can be used at any of the food providers on campus.

Being an instructor at Series Summer Arts School will be a most rewarding experience. Our students are positive, creative and most of all enthusiastic to learn more about their art.  We look forward to receiving your application.
