Thank you for your interest in joining the United Dance Merchants of America (UDMA). Enclosed you will find the all the information necessary to completing the application packet. UDMA needs the full packet (application and recommendations) before beginning the membership voting process. If your membership is approved, UDMA must receive your membership dues and fees payment before exhibiting at the shows.
UDMA is a member-driven organization. Members have direct impact on the decisions that affect the association. Because of this, it is important that each member participate in the success of the association. The membership has an annual meeting, held at the Dance Teacher Expo Show in New Jersey each year. Additionally, each full member has the opportunity to volunteer to serve on a committee and the board of directors. All important documents are posted to the UDMA website for the UDMA members, including our Bylaws and Standing Rules.
Eligibility Requirements
Interested companies should be of good repute with at least two (2) years prior business experience in the dance industry and should validate 50% or more of the firm’s business is in goods and/or services for the dance industry.
Membership Levels
There are three levels of membership within UDMA.
Non-Profit Member
*100 Annual Dues (must meet criteria stated in UDMA Bylaws)
• All promotional benefits of membership
• Option to participate in any/all annual UDMA Shows at 50% discount from member price (max one booth per city)
Associate Member
*400 Annual Dues ($100 donation to NDF)
• All promotional benefits of membership
• Option to participate in any UDMA Shows (sample table only)
• May upgrade to full membership at any time
Full Member
*600 Annual Dues ($100 donation to NDF).
• All promotional benefits of membership
• Option to participate in UDMA Shows
• Voting power for all UDMA business
• May occupy a position on a committee or the board
Application Procedure
Following are the items required for application:
• Three written recommendation from current customers of your business. Please have each customer submit a letter on company letterhead verifying their involvement with your company and their experience. Letters should be sent directly to UDMA at cathy@udma.org or by fax to (800) 517-6070.
• Completed application form
Upon approval of your membership application, a payment to UDMA for $500 initiation fee* plus first year’s dues (either $600, $400 or $100, depending on level of membership desired) is required.
