External applications, also referred to as LTIs (Learning Tools Interoperability), are apps that can be plugged into Canvas to expand its capabilities. Requests to add an external tool to Canvas go through a review process before they can be included in the Coast Community College District’s Canvas instance. Requests are reviewed for Accessibility, security, FERPA, end-user support, and other requirements.

Requests should be made well in advance of the time you expect to start using the LTI. The length of time required to review and test your LTI may vary quite considerably, depending on the complexity of the tool.

The Vendor must provide the items listed below in PDF, Word, or Excel format. Use the Browse File button below to upload the necessary files. (1) End Users License Agreement (EULA). (2) If app uses Canvas API, documentation of all of API endpoints the vendor’s integration will be using. This should be a list of all the data that is being read and written and why. (3)If app uses Canvas API, a security policy surrounding how the vendor stores API tokens and developer keys. (4) If app uses Canvas API, statement of the vendor’s secure procedure for Coast District to send the developer key to the vendor. (5) Statement of how the vendor complies with FERPA and any other laws that apply to students, faculty, or staff. (6) A Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT). (7) A Terms of Service or Terms of Use document. (8) Information about end-user support, faculty configuration support, and student support. Include a description of the types of support (in-person, website, phone, email, chat, etc.) and hours of availability for each type of support. Include information about vendor knowledge base, end-user documentation, or other self-help resources available for users. (9) Licensing agreements, if applicable
