We, the directors of Chabad at the above-listed school(s), hereafter referred to as “Chabad House,” acknowledge that the service of alcohol to individuals under the legal drinking age is unlawful in many jurisdictions and may pose significant health and safety risks. Accordingly, we adopt the following policy, effective immediately:
- The sale, service, and consumption of alcoholic beverages on or in connection with college campuses are governed by applicable law and university regulations.
- The leadership, staff, and volunteers of Chabad House are required to comply fully with all such applicable laws and regulations in the jurisdiction in which they operate.
- No individual under the legal drinking age in the applicable jurisdiction may serve or consume alcohol at any Chabad House property or at any Chabad House–sponsored event.
- No individual may serve, furnish, or otherwise provide alcohol to any person under the legal drinking age at any Chabad House property or Chabad House–sponsored event.
- A limited exception may be made solely for ceremonial wine used for bona fide religious ritual purposes (e.g., Kiddush), and only in strict compliance with applicable law.
- If this policy is reviewed in consultation with the relevant campus or institutional legal office, and written recommendations are provided, Chabad House may submit a revised version of this policy reflecting such recommendations. Any revised policy must be provided to Chabad on Campus International (COCI) for review and to be held on file.
We understand that any breach of this policy will be subject to review by the Vaad of Chabad on Campus International. A breach may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or termination of all COCI benefits and eligibility for any funding administered by COCI.
In addition, we agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Chabad on Campus International from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising out of or related to a breach of this policy, and we acknowledge personal responsibility for such obligations.
