  • Mark Your Calendars...  On October 5, 2018, we will honor all nominees at home plate on our very own Major League Baseball Field at JetBlue Park at Fenway South during an event called "SUPER HERO DAY". 

     

    This event will be a family-fun event to celebrate our community's nominees, announce the top honorees of each nomination category and enjoy family-friendly activities on the field.

    DUI/BUI Enforcement Hero – Individual

    MADD SWFL is seeking nominations for law enforcement officers who have shown outstanding efforts in eliminating drunk driving. This recognition has no minimum arrests required and will not be based solely on number of arrests. Please describe, in detail, initiatives undertaken or developed by the nominee supporting his/her outstanding dedication to DUI and/or BUI Enforcement during the 2017 calendar year.

     

    Handler and Drug Dog Hero - Individual

    MADD SWFL is seeking nominations for Handler and K9 pairs who have shown outstanding efforts  in 2017 towards the prevention and/or enforcement of drunk, drugged and impaired driving and/or boating. Nominees in this category focus on prevention, detection and enforcement of DUI/BUI laws. 

     

    MADD Hero of the Year - Individual

    MADD SWFL is seeking nominations of Law Enforcement Officers (sworn or civilian) who have gone above and beyond to support MADD’s mission during 2017. He/she will have shown outstanding efforts in education, prevention and enforcement and whose efforts are making an impact in reducing alcohol-related death and injury on our community’s roads. Some of these efforts may include, but are not limited to, DUI arrests, traffic safety, DUI victim services, underage drinking prevention programs, work ethic, etc. This recognition truly highlights the totality of MADD Mission.

     

    MADD Hero for Drugged Driving Hero - Individual or Agency

    MADD SWFL is seeking nominations for a law enforcement agency, group, OR individual who has made significant contributions towards eliminating drugged drivers from our community’s roadways through enforcement methods and/or prevention work during 2017.  

     

    MADD Star of Excellence - Agency

    MADD SWFL is seeking nominations for Agencies or Departments that have shown outstanding efforts in eliminating drunk driving and/or boating during the 2017 calendar year. This agency or department is always working towards success in reducing the number of crashes, fatalities and injuries on our roadways, and has excelled in many areas which might include but are not limited to implementing innovative techniques in detection of drunk driving and the number of DUI arrests, high attendance at network meetings, high percentage reporting, sobriety check points and participation in statewide initiatives. 

      

     Community Categories

    First Responder Hero - Individual

    MADD SWFL is seeking nominations for outstanding work by an individual who is a First Responder; including Emergency Medical Services, Firefighters, Medical personnel, etc. during 2017. When there is an impaired driving crash, EMS personnel rush to the scene; whether offering medical services to injured victims or securing blood evidence from an alleged impaired driver, these individuals are vital to the support of MADD’s Mission. 

    Breath Alcohol Technicians/Breath Test Operators Hero - Individual

    MADD SWFL is seeking nominations for outstanding work by Breath Alcohol Technicians/Breath Test Operators during 2017. The breath test results are essential in the prosecution of impaired driving laws and the work done by those individuals should not go unnoticed. Technicians/Operators must be knowledgeable and proficient not only in testing procedures but also in understanding technological and mechanical nuances of the alcohol testing instrument.

    Outstanding Prosecutor Hero - Individual

    MADD SWFL is seeking nominations for prosecutors (felony and/or misdemeanor) who have shown their dedication to saving lives on our community’s roadways through exemplary prosecution of impaired drivers and by working to eliminate drunk driving, supporting the victims of this violent crime or preventing underage drinking during the 2017 calendar year.

    Outstanding Media Hero(es) - Individual or Group

    MADD SWFL is seeking nominations for media organizations or reporters who have shown their dedication to saving lives by supporting MADD's efforts and initiatives on air and on social media during the 2017 calendar year.

    MADD Volunteer Hero(es) of the Year - Individual or Group

    Volunteers are, and have always been, the key to MADD SWFL's success.  As a grassroots organizations, we rely on volunteers to enrich and support MADD's mission.  Nominees for this category must have demonatrated, through example and accomplishment, outstanding volunteer service in support of MADD's mission during the 2017 calendar year.

    MADD Youth Hero(es) - Individual or Group

    MADD SWFL is seeking nominations of individuals or youth groups, clubs or teams (ages 11-18) who have shown dedication to prevent underage drinking and/or elimiate drunk and drugged driving during the 2017 calendar year.  Nominations should include specific ways youth has shown initiative, leadership and personal growth in the prevention of underage drinking and/or MADD's mission.

    Underage Drinking Prevention Hero(es) - Individual, Organization or Group

    MADD SWFL is seeking nominations for individuals, law enforcement agencies and community groups who have shown dedication to addressing the underage drinking prevention prong of MADD’s Mission during the 2017 calendar year. This may include those who have worked to implement specific underage drinking prevention strategies in their communities like underage party patrols, officers who coordinate and carry out alcohol compliance checks, passing a social host ordinance, educating the community on alcohol laws, and educating youth on the risks of underage drinking.

     

  • MADD SWFL would like to recognize individuals, agencies and departments who work diligently in their work and daily lives to support MADD’s mission to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking during the 2017 calendar year.
