GROUP 1: Low Progesterone
This is the most common hormone imbalance among women of all ages and is affected by diet, synthetic hormones, stress, and can be easily tested through saliva. Low progesterone can cause infertility, miscarriage, headaches, and even restless leg syndrome. I recommend a saliva test with herbal hormone support.
GROUP 2: Low Estrogen
This hormone imbalance is most common in menopausal women and has similar symptoms to high progesterone; especially if you are petite and/or slim. Low estrogen is often related to low libido, vaginal dryness, and loss of focus. Support for this hormone includes adrenal and ovary supplements as well as moderate hormones.
GROUP 3: Excess estrogen
High estrogen is also very common in women of all ages. Estrogen can be found in hormone replacement therapy, plastics, makeup, personal care products and when excess hormones can not be filtered out of the body the hormone causes chaos including rapid weight gain, mainly throughout the hips, depression, and anxiety. You can skip the testing for now and focus on a cleanse to support your liver, gallbladder, and colon to remove the excess hormones and then re-evaluate your symptoms.
GROUP 4: Estrogen dominance
This is caused when you don't have enough progesterone to balance the effects of estrogen. Thus, you can have low estrogen but if you have even lower progesterone, you can have symptoms of estrogen dominance. Similar to excess estrogen, a cleanse and organ support would be beneficial to start with then a saliva panel to determine which hormones are not being supported correctly and create a personalized plan.
GROUP 5: Excess androgens (male hormones)
This group is closely related to PCOS (poly cystic ovary syndrome) and can easily be supported with lifestyle and dietary changes due to the effect on blood sugar that these hormones have. Controlling blood sugar, supporting the pancreas and liver will help these hormones balance. A simple saliva test to track all of your hormones as well as a basic blood panel to test your blood sugar and liver function will help you determine the cause and the support you need for your hormone balance.
GROUP 6: Low Cortisol
Stress, feeling run down, never able to recover, and never able to rest. Cortisol is produced by the adrenals as a healthy response to stress but over time the adrenals take you on a roller coaster ride. They amp up their production of cortisol and then once they burn out the cortisol production slows and your body begins to shut down. Adrenal support comes in many forms but first starts with a saliva test to track the times of day your cortisol is changing, what is causing the change and then addressing that area that needs support. Your afternoon slump, slow mornings, and 3am wake ups will be balanced once you find out why this is occuring in your body.
