Emergency Medicine:
When traumas occur, professionals in Emergency Medicine are the first to respond and the first to save lives. From triage to surgery, this career is not for the faint of heart. However, for those who wish to pursue this wild career, the Emergency Medicine Branch of the Summit is a perfect fit. During the summit, students will take part in an unprecedented healthcare experience. Students will get a comprehensive view into emergency medicine and be exposed to healthcare experiences they need to make educated career choices.At the summit, students will meet Emergency Medical professionals, and learn all about the steps of saving lives in emergencies. With simulation equipment, students will learn how to respond to patients, diagnose them, and perform triage, in addition to providing diagnoses and cover costs of a real patient in Nigeria. They will leave the summit has already saved a life, and eager to save more in the emergency setting. They will feel confident assessing injuries, being able to perform CPR and using an AED, being certified by the Red Cross to perform First Aid, as well as knowing how to react under the pressure of an emergency.These students will also get a chance to explore Washington D.C., tour the Red Cross Building and National Institute of Health, and network with leading D.C. Medical professionals.
