The Chanda Morris Junior Volunteer Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the Gritman Medical Center Auxiliary in Moscow Idaho to memorialize Chanda Morris. Her untimely death was the result of a car accident in 1991. She was a high school junior in Troy, Idaho.
Chanda was a member of the Honor Society Club, had a 4.0 GPA, and was President of her Junior Class. She was also a member of the Business Professional Club, Future Farmers of America, Spirit Club, basketball team, and volleyball team.
Chanda was a Junior Volunteer at Gritman Medical Center for 2 years and contributed 331 hours. The Junior Volunteer program is for young men and women ages 14 through high school. Junior volunteers donate their time to patient and staff assistance, learning a variety of duties under the supervision of hospital staff.
Chanda served as secretary and president of Gritman’s Junior Volunteer Council. She was named Volunteer of the Year in 1991. She was a goal-oriented student and wanted to pursue a career in the medical profession as a physician.
Applicants are graduating seniors and have participated in the Junior Volunteer Program at Gritman Medical Center. Applicants’ requirements include a contribution of a minimum of 40 documented hours to the Junior Volunteer Program. Applicants do not need to pursue a medical career to apply for this scholarship.
