Program (event/camp) Scholarships

Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons (GSDH) is committed to providing all girls the opportunity to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. The GSDH Girl Event and Camp Scholarship is designed to assist new and renewing girl members in our council jurisdiction by providing supplemental resources beyond a family’s ability to pay. Scholarship allocations are subject to availability within the council’s current operating budget. The eligibility and important information below are offered to outline the application process and help navigate the council’s procedure.
ELIGIBILITY
- Available to new or renewing girl members
- Form must be completed and submitted by the parent/guardian on behalf of their girl
- Girl scholarship applicants/family must be in good financial standing with the council
When GSDH’s annual operating budget allows and applicant qualifies, GSDH scholarships will be awarded as follows:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- For Council facilitated events and camps, this application serves as both an application for scholarship, and if approved, becomes the girl scout's registration form.
- For Service Unit offered events and camps, this application serves as an application for scholarship only. A separate event or camp registration is required based on the event guidelines. If approved, GSDH will notify the Service Unit of the girl scout's scholarship approval and amount.
- Applications are kept confidential. The application will not be shared with volunteers collecting registrations for volunteer-led events. The volunteer who is collecting registrations for a volunteer-led event/camp will be notified of the girl’s registration fee payment via scholarship from council.
- Service units, troops, girls and families should contribute to share the cost of event/camp fees whenever possible. If a contributing payment is available, please send it along with the name of the girl and event to: GSDH, Attn: PDSA, 1002 43rd St S, Fargo, ND 58103
- Scholarships are not granted to an entire troop.
- Scholarships are not available for travel; troop, service unit or council travel programs.
- Scholarships will not be provided for funds already spent.
- If your Girl Scout is not able to attend, please contact us at help@gsdakotahorizons.org immediately. Cancellations made within 3 weeks of the session date or no-show instances may affect future scholarship opportunities for the Girl Scout.
