Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a college preparation and readiness program which provides middle and high school students the opportunity to acquire the academic skills, career awareness, and information necessary for students to overcome the challenges to successful college completion. ETS identifies and develops academic talent in the St. Louis Public School System and connects them with institutions of higher education.
The mission of the Higher Education Consortium (HEC) of Metropolitan St. Louis is to enhance student access and achievement in higher education.
Program Requirements
HEC Educational Talent Search is a federally funded educational program. The Federal Government sets the guidelines for eligibility. To be eligible for Educational Talent Search, a student must meet U.S. Department of Education taxable income guidelines, which identifies low-income status.

Additionally, HEC Educational Talent Search students must meet the following requirements:
1. First-generation college-bound (neither parent living in the home has a four-year degree)
2. Currently enrolled in a rigorous course of study
3. Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A.
4. Display potential to succeed at the postsecondary level
5. Attend a SLPS target school or live in the surrounding area
6. Participate in services and activities
7. Obtain parental permission and support
