The goal of the Incubator Studio Program is to promote the progress of 6 emerging artists  by offering them an affordable studio space for 1 year, during which they will receive support, encouragement, advice, and inspiration from the membership at McGuffey Art Center. Renting an incubator studio only requires 10 hours of studio hours per week in the studio during the art center’s open hours. The incubator artist’s medium is usually 2 dimensional artwork but other mediums will be considered if it seems possible in the space. The studio year runs from July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027.

Incubator artists will be an integral part of the McGuffey Art Center and will work on a committee doing tasks such as hanging artwork, hosting openings, assisting with the drawing group, etc. there will also be field trips and studio visits and opportunities for critiques. The year will culminate in a group show at McGuffey in June.

Incubator artists will be encouraged to develop a body of work and move on to the next step in their journey as an artist. Applicants should be in a place in their art-making where they have some experience, are ready to commit time, and have ideas for future projects.

Applications will be accepted from January 10 to March 10, 2026 with applicant interviews starting late March.
