Apply today for the 2018 K-8 Math Institute!
The Institute is funded by a State Math and Science Partnership Grant and managed by the Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) Department of Mathematical Sciences Professional Development Outreach Program.
The Institute includes the Intel Math content course this summer and several optional follow up workshops on teaching practices and strategies during the coming school year.
Intel Math is an intensive, 80-hour, content-based course that requires full participation including take home assignments. The course is designed for you as a learner to deepen your own understanding of the K-8 math content and connections between concepts.
This summer we will offer two Intel Math Courses. Both will take place on the CCSU campus, in New Britain, CT (more information to follow on acceptance). Each day the class meets for 8 hours, including a short break for lunch. You will need to plan on bringing your own lunch with you for the duration of the class. Completion of the Intel Math summer course includes a $2,000 stipend for participating teachers.
Class A: July 9 – 20
Class B: July 23 – August 3
Please call Dr. Robin S. Kalder with any application questions, 860-832-2842, or visit http://www.ccsu.edu/K8MathInstitute/ for more information.
Application deadline is March 23th. Participants will be notified of their acceptance by April 9th. Each class has 30 seats, so there are 60 seats total available (25 Hamden, 10 Vernon, 25 New Haven). If we have more applicants than spaces, we will work with your district math coordinators to make final decisions. If selected to participate, you will need to fully commit to the Institute - this means complete attendance, homework assignments, and tasks for the evaluation of the project throughout the school year.
