  • The Tennessee Tennis Patrons Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization under Tennessee law with federal tax-exempt status.  It is governed by a volunteer board of directors and assisted by volunteers to promote the growth and development of tennis in Tennessee.  It provides one-time grants of $1000 to construct new public tennis courts or to upgrade existing tennis facilities.  This online document includes information about the grants, the grant application, and the grant accountability report.

The foundation has devised a simple online grant application and requires a one-page program/event/project summary, a one-page budget, and a simple grant accountability report.

Where:  Public tennis facilities in the state of Tennessee.

What:  one-time, $1,000 grants to construct new tennis facilities and upgrade existing facilities.  The funds are intended to serve as seed money for fundraising programs and act as a catalyst.  Examples of acceptable expenses include architectural and engineering plans, matching grants with local, state, and federal governmental funds, and leveraged partnerships with community tennis associations, public schools and schools systems, youth programs and foundations, public colleges and universities, and other non-private partners.

Who:  public tennis facilities owned or managed by parks and recreation departments, community tennis associations, nonprofit organizations, public colleges and universities, and combinations of the same.

    When:  rolling application deadline.

Why:  Tennessee lacks enough public tennis facilities to support the growth of the sport and existing public facilities deteriorate.  The costs of construction and upgrade are often prohibitive and require funding from multiple sources.

Tennessee has a rich tradition of excellence in tennis and an equally strong tradition of promoting the sport at public courts.  The foundation recognizes that demand for tennis courts has outstripped availability in many Tennessee communities and the vital importance of free, public tennis facilities to the growth and development of the sport.
