Pleease read carefully if your appeal is about course placement:
Course placement recommendations are carefully considered in Math, Science and World Language based on a student's performance in her/his current and former Prep classes. Past experience shows us that students who remain in the class for which they were recommended are most successful. Those who push beyond a course for which they've been recommended often end up switching out of the class or earning a lower grade than they had expected.
Students who wish to use summer coursework for credit should also fill out an appeal. Summer credit may advance a student in course progression but does not count towards graduation credit. Summer courses for credit are extremely rigorous and are not generally recommended. It is difficult to master academic concepts that are needed going forward due to the short timeframe of these courses.
Responses to appeals will be either:
1. Original placement maintained. Remain in the course for which you've been recommended.
2. Appeal granted. Student is moved to the course which you have requested.
3. Appeal granted with conditions. Occassionally an appeal will be granted with a condition. In this case, the student will be moved into the course which you have requested as long as the condition is met. If the condition is not met, the student will be placed in the course for which they were originally recommended.
