Welcome to the School Supplies by Campus Survival Kits program!
We are pleased your school has chosen our company to fulfill your school supply needs for the 2018-19 school year.
As someone involved in the creation of the school/grade supply lists you play an important role in helping to select the perfect mix of products for your students. This introduction will highlight some of the key features of our program and help you complete your online list updates.
How to complete the list update form
Each page of this form has been pre-populated with items based on your school’s current-year supply lists. For each item you will need to enter the quantity desired and answer one or more questions about that item. Your answers to these questions will help us choose products that have the best combination of features and value. Keep in mind that you will have another opportunity to review your lists after we have created and priced the Kits based on the information submitted here. If you decide later that certain features are critical you can always let us know!
Each grade level list has its own tab. You can move from list to list using these tabs OR the hit save/next button at the bottom of each form. Your work on each form will be saved as long as each time you access the form you use the full form URL: www.campussurvivalkits.com/halleylists?session=halley. If you need to leave the form and return later, just be sure to hit the save/next button at the bottom of the list you are working on before leaving the portal. You can also ask others to help you edit the form – just make sure they are using the URL above.
Please note: This form often operates with a lot of lag time between clicks. This is due to the fact that the form is constantly saving your work as you navigate from field to field. This may be especially apparent when clicking from tab to tab. Please be patient and allow sufficient time for the form to work before clicking again.
REMOVE ITEMS: Simply place a “0” in the quantity field for that item and the item will be removed.
ADD ITEMS: At the bottom of each form you will find a section to add items. For each item you want to add to the list fill in the item and quantity fields. Then tell us if it is a split item and provide any other details about the item that are important (brand, size, color, etc.). Be sure to hit “save/add another item” after each item you add.
CHANGE ITEM FEATURES: If you need to make edits to the features of an item that are part of the item header (for example, changing from quart storage bags to gallon storage bags) the preferred method of doing this is to note this in the “additional specifications” section of the existing item. As an alternative you may choose to remove the item by placing a “0” in the quantity field and then adding a new item at the bottom of the form.
ADD STUDENT NAMES TO ITEMS (PERSONALIZATION): Each Campus Survival Kit comes with 12 free student name labels. We are happy to attach these to up to 12 individual items at no extra charge. Please designate those items in the designated area at the bottom of each form, along with relevant information about label placement if desired. Please note that the count here refers to individual items so if you need three folders labeled, that counts as three items.
SUBMIT FORM: When you are done making ALL edits to ALL of the lists for your school it is time to submit your form. Go to the last tab on the portal to find the submit button. Once you submit the form you will not be able to return to the form to make additional edits so please ensure you are done with the form before hitting the submit button. If you have any questions, please let us know before you submit the form!
Other important items to consider
BRANDS: If you require a specific brand for a particular product, please note it in the space provided for that item. While having a brand name is sometimes desirable, there are often comparable (or superior!) products available for a lower price. If no brand is specified we will choose a quality product that meets your needs and keeps prices as low as possible for parents. In some cases we have a “DEFAULT” brand we choose unless you specify a different brand. In these cases we will make a note of this under the brand field for the item (for example, glue sticks will always be Elmer’s unless otherwise specified, and dry erase markers will always be Expo unless otherwise specified).
COMMUNITY ITEMS VS. PERSONAL ITEMS: You will be asked to classify each item on the list as a “Community Item” or as a “Personal item.” Community items are those items that are generally collected from each student and stored in a central location for use by all, such as wipes and tissues. Individual items are those items retained by the student or used specifically by that student.
With the Campus Survival Kits program, community items are packaged and delivered in bulk to each teacher. Items marked as personal items will be packaged by student in individual drawstring backpacks. Items such as tissues, disinfecting wipes, storage bags and any items designated as a “split item” (see below) are always community items, but you may also choose other items as community items as well. Just designate these items using the dropdown in the item specifications.
SPLIT ITEMS: If one or more of your lists was previously divided by girls/boys or by last name, you will note these lists are now combined. Instead of creating separate Kits, the items previously included on only one list will now ask you to identify that item as a “split item,” meaning we will include that item in a quantity equal to half of the Kits ordered. Split items are always considered “community items” and will be included with the community items packages for each teacher.
And that’s it!
Once your lists have been submitted, Campus Survival Kits will source the appropriate items and provide a detailed Kit contents list and pricing for final review. Once you are satisfied with your list we will begin to create the marketing materials so you and your PTA can begin outreach to parents. Keep in mind that the more students who order Kits, the more free supplies you will receive next January, so please try to share the benefits of ordering a Kit with your students and parents.
