What's a CA?
New undergraduate commuter freshmen and transfer students are assigned a Commuter Assistant (CA) during their first year at Duquesne. Commuter Assistants are upperclassmen commuter students who serve as mentors to new students as they transition into college life. Students are usually assigned a CA in the same school, and sometimes even the same major.
Students look to their CA as a great resource, not only about commuting, but also academics and other aspects of University life. CAs plan various programs and activities throughout the semester to assist students in becoming involved on campus. CAs maintain weekly office hours in the Office of Commuter Affairs and are available to meet with their students.
What’s a South Side CA?
South Side Commuter Assistants are commuter students residing on the South Side who act as a liaison between students living on the South Side and the Office of Commuter Affairs. South Side CAs help plan events, provide information through our social media, serve as a resource and assist the office in ensuring the South Side students have a positive experience residing off campus and are good neighbors.
CAs gain valuable work experience while helping fellow students. Parking/transportation accommodations are made for Commuter Assistants on a semester basis.
