  • The John C. and Queen Miller Scholarship

    Available for Current Year Graduating Seniors. The John C. and Queen Miller Scholarship is a one-time award of $1,500. This scholarship is awarded annually and may be divided among multiple recipients. It is managed by Providence Presbytery's Committee on Racial and Religious Reconciliation.
    1. Each student applicant must have an overall G.P.A. of 3.0 or better.

    2. Applicants should be of African American/Black descent AND a member of one of the churches in Providence Presbytery.

    3. Each student will submit at least 3 forms of documented community service.

    4. Each student applicant will write and submit an essay of no less than 250 words on the year's given topic.

    5. Students who have met the scholarship requirements by having the needed GPA, and submitting ALL required documents by the deadline date will be interviewed. Applicants to appear before the committee for the interview.

    6. Scholarship(s) to be awarded by July 30, 2023. 

    7. In the event of a tie, funds will be divided equally between or among recipients.

    8. All scholarship funds will be forwarded to the recipients' college or technical school.

    • Electronic or printed form submission date is June 30, 2023.

    IMPORTANT: If printed and mailed, the document must be RECEIVED by the committee by June 30, 2023. Please allow for mail delivery delays when submitting via mail delivery.

    • DEADLINE for receiving High School Transcripts is no later than JUNE 30, 2023. Transcripts received AFTER June 30, 2023 will NOT be accepted. (Please allow for paperwork and mail delivery delays when requesting transcript from your high school counselor.)
