Six Disciplines of Prayer: From 60 Seconds to 60 Minutes in Prayer (Experience) (Mondays, 7 – 8:15 p.m., April 2nd – May 7th; Various Facilitators) We are living intimes when "the basics" are being neglected. We assume every believer has a handle on the basics of the Christian life. We assume that most people know how to pray and do so as Jesus taught. It just isn't so. This Spiritual Formation course is a starting place for learning the basics all over again. Itis a tool that every believer can use to refresh their prayer life and renew prayer disciplines. The facilitators will be using the text, From 60 Seconds to 60 Minutes in Prayer: Intimacy with God.
dFree (Grow) (Mondays, 7 – 8:15 p.m., April 2nd– May 7th; Various Facilitators) Dfree is a transformationallifestyle movement that promotes financial freedom through values-based approaches to financial literacy. Dfree is about managing your life, not just your money. In this course, facilitators will encourage participants to clarify values, change behaviors, and accept personal responsibility to achieve financial success and stability. Participants are guided in making a commitment to change and personal financial transformation.
Midday (Serve) (Wednesdays, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.; April 4th – May 30th; Various Facilitators) Midday provides a space for participants to engage in biblical studies and rich discussion on multiple topics. Facilitators will lead participants on a journey to gaining biblical literacy and learning to serve as a disciple of Jesus.
Women in the Bible: There are Two Sides to Every Story (Grow)(Wednesdays, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m., April 4th– May 9th; Min. Aretha Flucker, Facilitator) Women in the Bible: There are Two Sides to Every Story is designed to reimagine the stories of women in the Bible in ways that are empowering and liberating for women. Stories that are featured in the Bible are often told from a view that lacks a female perspective. However, there is always another side to every story. Through a new lens, participants in this course will explore biblical stories featuring women more deeply, engage in meaningful dialogue about female biblical figures, reimagine their own lives, and reclaim their power to change the world.
The Luke Men: The Disciples Path (Grow) (Wednesdays,7:30 – 8:30 p.m.; April 4th – May 9th; Various Facilitators) The Luke Men is a movement of brothers who strive to exemplify strength, compassion, integrity and service. We strive to build strong men who build strong families who build strong communities. Every man is welcome to be a part of a confidential small group of like-minded men who strive to live like Jesus spiritually, socially, economically, and in their health. This course is specifically designed to offer men the space for meaningful dialogue as participants explore the disciple’s path.
The Purpose-Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For? (Serve) (Wednesdays, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m., April 4th – May 9th; Rev. Chad Brawley) The Purpose-Driven Life is far more than just a course, it is a guide to a spiritual journey. Once you take this journey, you’ll never be the same again. On your journey you’ll find the answers to three of life’s most important questions: The Question of Existence: Why am I alive? The Question of Significance: Does my life matter? The Question of Purpose: What on earth am I here for? Living out the purpose you were created for moves you to the life you were meant to live. The facilitator will be using Rick Warren’s The Purpose-Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For as the text for this course.
Bible Basics (Connect) Thursdays, 7 – 8:15 p.m., April 5th – May 3rd & May 17th; Rev. Manuel Hawthorne, Facilitator) Bible Basics is a biblical exploration designed for those who need to be reacquainted with the Bible or those who may be new to the church. Participants in this course learn to study the Bible with an in-depth lens and understand how to practically use the Bible as a resource. This course dives into astudy of the 66 books of the Bible, structure, important themes, historical findings, and biblical figures. This course is a foundational course for all other Spiritual Formation courses at The Luke Church. The primary text for this course is a NIV (New International Version) Bible.
Biblical Foundations for Marriage (Thursdays, 7 – 8:15 p.m., April 5th – May 10th; Various Facilitators) Biblical Foundations for Marriage is a small group for couples, designed to strengthen your relationship by unpacking what the Bible says about how to live life. This space-limited class offers biblical solutions for vibrant marriages. Come share your experiences, meet new couples and be empowered to continue building a strong foundation for a lifelong love. If you are preparing for marriage, this is the prerequisite forbeing married by a member of the pastoral team. The fee for this course is $120.
