  • ProSEED/Crosswalk Seed Grant Application - Spring2018

  • Submission Deadline: 11:59 pm, March 30, 2018. Note: Though this form may remain open after this deadline, any submissions received after this deadline will NOT be accepted.

  • Funding Request: Indicate the total amount of funding requested from ProSEED/Crosswalk. Typical requests are expected to be between $500-2500. Funding should be used within 1 calendar year of it being awarded.

  • Abstract: Provide a 100-200 word summary of your project and proposal.

  • Proposal Document: Please prepare your proposal according to the template provided at the following link: ProSEED/Crosswalk Template.  Save the document PDF format and upload below.

  • Letters of Support: Please attach any letters of support. (Compile all letters into one PDF file.)

    Note: Letters of support are not required for consideration. HOWEVER, student-led proposals that do not originate from a recognized student group are strongly encouraged to identify and submit a letter of support from a faculty or staff mentor. This letter should confirm that the faculty/staff mentor will periodically meet with the students and act as a supervisory resource for the student(s).

  • Compliance / Conflict of Interest Screening Questions

    The following questions are intended to provide more information about your proposed project as it relates to the need for assistance on potential regulatory and compliance issues such as conflict of interest, contracts and licensing, human subjects and animal testing.  If you answer YES to any of these questions, please provide relevant details in the space provided. 

    Please note the following:

    You are required to answer the questions below and indicate the relevant details even if these questions are already addressed in your original proposal.

    If you are uncertain about the answer to any of these questions, please answer YES and provide any details that may be relevant.

    The ProSEED committee will work with the applicants to resolve any issues identified by these questions. Except in very rare circumstances, answering YES to any of these questions will NOT impact the review of your proposal or your likelihood of funding. 

  • Question 1: Does the proposed project involve collaboration with individuals or groups from an external organization, including but not limited to an external company, non-profit organization, another university or educational institution, or government office?

  • Question 2: Are any members of the project/proposal team owners of or employed by any outside entities involved in the project??

  • Question 3: Does this project involve working or interacting with minors (that is, persons under the age of 18) who are NOT enrolled students at Carnegie Mellon?

  • Question 4: Does this project involve testing of human subjects or animals?  (Note that administering surveys MAY be classified as human subject testing.)

  • Question 5: Does this project involve the design or testing of any medical device or software and/or the collection and analysis of any medical data?

  • Question 6: Does this project potentially require the purchase or licensing of any materials that MAY be copyrighted or trademarked, including but not limited to images, logos, video or audio?

  • Question 7: Will this project necessitate the execution of any signed contracts, including but not limited to rental contracts for vehicles or special equipment?

  • Question 8: Do you anticipate any of the project will be conducted outside of the United States (e.g. foreign collaborators, fieldwork, travel etc.)? If Yes, be sure to indicate the specific countries involved.
