  • Scholarship Purpose

    In accordance with its mission, Ebenezer Baptist Church awards a minimum of four educational scholarships based on need and merit to qualified applicants. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance for books, tuition, and/or fees to high school graduates furthering their education at an institution of higher learning.

    Who’s Eligible?

    Graduating high school students who have applied and/or been accepted to an accredited two or four-year College or University and enroll in the fall of the same year. The degree must lead to the awarding of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Applicants must be current and active members of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

    Ebenezer Baptist Church Renewable Scholarship

    Ebenezer is excited to offer one renewable scholarship to be awarded to one of the scholarship recipients. Each application will be rated and ranked based on selection criteria listed below. The top-ranking applicant will receive the renewable award each year for four years.

    The recipient must meet the following criteria to renew the award in the subsequent years.

    • Must maintain an unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (transcript will be required each year)
    • Show proof of campus or community activities/engagement (provide letter from organization detailing activities, hours, position, etc.)

    Legacy Scholarships (non-renewable)

    Ebenezer will continue to award three legacy scholarships that are one-time, non-renewable scholarships.

    How Are Recipients Selected?

    All applications and supporting documents are reviewed by the Ebenezer Baptist Church Scholarship Committee. Recommendations for awards will be based on how well applicants meet the following criteria:

    • Completed Online Application (following instructions, accuracy, etc.)
    • Acceptance Letter(s) from colleges applied to and/or have been accepted
    • Essay written by the applicant
    • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
      • One from a current teacher or school counselor and
      • One from a church or community service leader
    • Church Involvement (Regular attendance and participation in youth related auxiliaries or other ministries)
    • Community Service, Academic and Other Achievements
    • Interview with scholarship committee
    • High School Transcripts

    All information submitted is CONFIDENTIAL and will not be disclosed.

    How Do I Apply?

    • Logon to the church website and complete the online scholarship application.
    • Click on the following link: EBC Scholarship Application
    • Complete all sections of the application and provide supporting documents no later than May 01, 2025.
    • Late packets will not be considered.

    When Will I Know?

    Recipients will be notified in writing by June 02, 2025.

    How Much Will Be Awarded?

    • Three non-renewable $1000 scholarship will be awarded.
    • One renewable $1000 scholarship will be awarded to the top applicant.

    How Are Scholarships Issued?

    Upon verification of enrollment from the registrar's office, scholarship checks will be made payable to the institution.

  • Please complete the EBC online scholarship application by May 01, 2025.  It is your responsibility to make sure that the application is complete, accurate and that all supporting documents are entered and received by the deadline.  Hardcopy applications or documents will not be accepted.

    Please review the online application in its entirety and prepare your supporting documents (high school transcript and college acceptance letters) in advance for upload.  Once you submit your application, you will not be able to go back and retrieve a copy of your submitted form for update.  You may only submit your application once.

    List and describe any church related ministries and/or activities (Dynamic Youth Ministry, choir, usher, nursery worker, Sunday School, etc.) in which you are now or have been involved at Ebenezer within the last 3 years. Please be sure to include any positions of leadership and responsibilities you have held, including dates.
  • COMMUNITY SERVICE

    List and describe any community service/outreach activities (Candy Striper, Mission Blitz, Scouts, Other volunteer work) in which you are now or have been involved within the last 3 years. Please be sure to include any positions of leadership and responsibilities you have held, including dates.
  • EMPLOYMENT

    List past and present job assignments with duties and length of time employed.
  • SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY

  • Instructions: To help the committee gain insight of your motivation for attending college and what your future plans are, please answer one of the two essay questions below. You may write your essay in MS Word and copy/paste into the essay section below. Your essay must be a minimum of 300 words and a maximum of 500 words.

    1. Upon graduation from college, how will your education/career help you to improve your life, your family and your community.

    2. What will be your college major and what led you to choose this area of study? Describe how you hope to use your major upon graduation from college.

    - One letter from a current teacher or school counselor
    - One letter from a church or community service leader

    Note:  Relatives, the pastor, or members of the Scholarship Ministry cannot submit recommendations.

    The completed online application packet, including supporting documents, must be received by May 01, 2025. Late packets will not be considered and hard copies will not be accepted.
